Lewis and Clark Osage Orange

In 1803, intrepid explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, left organized society to explore the newly acquired lands of the Louisiana Purchase. For three years, they and the Corps of Discovery, traversed unknown lands, met Native American tribes, and searched for a water passage to the Pacific. Returning in 1806, the explorers presented seeds of previously unknown plant species to Thomas Jefferson and other notable citizens of the time.
