- When an electric appliance is plugged in, electricity flows in from a power plant. - The power plant burns fuel to provide the electricity. The burning fuel emits carbon dioxide (CO2) into the air. - Trees filter the carbon dioxide out of the air and store the carbon (C). The tree then releases the oxygen (O2) into the air. - The air has been cleansed of toxic carbon and replenished with oxygen that we can breathe.
